Today will be spent discovering the treasures of Byzantine art and more!
Our first stop will be at Menoiko village where we will visit the church of St Kyprianos dating from the 13th Century. There you will have the opportunity to embrace the icon or to venerate the relics of the saint and ask for healing.  On request the priest will recite a prayer for the suspension of any spell put on you. The prayer will protect you against the evil eye, evil words and envy.  You will also be able to wash your hands and face in the holy water that gushes forth next to the church.
Passing through the Solea Valley with its quiet villages we will visit the church of Asinou, a small 12th century church dedicated to the Virgin Mary.  This is a UNESCO world heritage site and houses frescoes that are strikingly beautiful and considered to be some of the finest examples in Cyprus. In total there are more than 100 paintings most of which date from between the 12th and 14th centuries.
Our next stop will be at Ayios Nikolaos Tis Stegis Church which is set in its own picturesque surroundings and has some of the most important frescoes of the 11th to 17th centuries.
There will be time to walk around the village of Kakopetria, the old quarter of which features many restored traditional houses and has been declared a protected area.
We will then move on for a stop at Troodos Square just below Mount Olympus - the highest point in Cyprus with a peak of 1951 meters – the perfect spot to take in the panoramic views.
Lunch break will be taken at a restaurant in Platres village and be able to sample the local speciality which is trout fish.
Last stop will be at the picturesque village of Doros, to visit a spoon sweets factory and sample some.  Spoon sweets, is a Cyprus traditional homemade fruit confectionery fruits stewed down with sugar to a desired consistency and available in a wide range of flavours. There are probably as many spoon sweets as there are fruits and vegetables. Walnuts, aubergines, oranges, lemons, grapes, cherries, even onions and garlic!
Please note that modest dress is required when visiting Monasteries and Churches, i.e. no shorts or low-cut tops.
Lunch is included in the price.

Prices and availability can be obtained from our reception.
